PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
Position Title: Programme Assistant
Location: Manila, Philippines
Closing Date: 15 June 2023
Key Responsibilities
The Program Assistant is expected to:
- Facilitate strong support for the Food Sovereignty and Ecological Agriculture Programme through strengthening of farmers and movements through research, documentation, campaign, policy advocacy and information sharing.
- Take on tasks as an active member of the PANAP staff and to meet its overall objectives including organising meetings and workshops in this program, assisting in coordination of activities and with partners, assisting in fundraising, assisting in writing reports and providing regular reports to its officers and management.
Specific Responsibilities
Specifically, the Program Assistant shall:
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Program’s activities, through:
- Providing support on research studies, campaign and policy advocacy work of the Program and partners;
- Assisting in preparing publications, audio visuals and all other forms of media, including social media, to promote the Program’s advocacies and campaigns;
- Assisting in networking and alliance-building
- Providing support to partners in monitoring activities;
- Assist in developing funding proposals for the program
- Assist in organising meetings, conferences, workshops and other activities of the program
- Assist in writing regular and annual reports, and provides briefings and feedback to the network and to the staff of the organisation in the areas of responsibility;
- Attend meetings and discussion groups to further the objectives of the organisation
- Perform basic functions of administrative support for the program and the PANAP office
Other specific tasks will be identified as the need arises.
Desired Qualifications
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, specifically in English
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Knowledge and understanding of food sovereignty and related issues in Asia is an advantage
- Prior experience in NGO work, including on campaigns and advocacy, is required
- Willing to travel on a regular basis

FINANCE OFFICER
Position Title: Finance Officer
Reports to the: Admin & Finance Director
Location: Based in Simpang Ampat, Penang, Malaysia
Core Activities: The post involves assisting in all finance function of the organisation including record maintenance, financial reports, documentation and filing work
Salary: The salary would commensurate with experience

BACKGROUND ON PANAP
Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PANAP) is one of the regional coordinating centres of PAN, an international network working towards the elimination of hazardous pesticides and promoting agroecology.
JOB Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ADMIN & FINANCE ASSISTANT:
- To assist in managing full set of accounts, including payroll; handle banking matters, liaise with auditors etc.
- To assist in preparing EPF, SOCSO, Income Tax and PCB contributions
- To prepare payment voucher, issue cheque and process staff claims
- To assist in performing reconciliation of accounts and journal entries
- To assist in generating monthly financial and management reports
- To assist in preparation of general ledger and accounting reports
- To assist in cash flow management and preparation of budget
- To assist in admin and other ad-hoc assignments, when required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE POST:
- Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Accounting
- Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Knowledge of UBS and SQL accounting software is an added advantage
- Computer literate and proficient in MS Softwares
- Able to handle full set accounts with minimum 2-5 years of related working experience
- General knowledge of Employment Act (EPF, SOCSO), Income Tax, PCB contributions
- Good working attitude, able to work independently, hardworking, self-motivated & team player
- Experience working with NGOs is an added advantage
