Responsible fishing and sustainable use of ocean resources

SRI LANKA | Local lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic have exacted a toll on artisanal fishing, which is the primary source of income for many Sri Lankans. Still, cases of illegal fishing by mostly foreign operations have been reported that may put the ocean and its resources at long-term risk. A recent discussion was held with members of the Southern Fisheries Organization of the Galle District Fisheries Society, which is allied to the National Fisheries Solidarity Organization (NAFSO), a PANAP partner, to campaign against the use of banned fishing equipment.

5th phase of Relief distribution for rural community in Pudukkottai district

INDIA | Kudumbam, a nonprofit campaigning for organic farming and sustainable development, has identified and provided relief to 150 vulnerable families in three clusters in Tamil Nadu State. The relief pack consists of 16 essential dry ration materials, including five kilograms of rice, pulses, spices, oil with health kits; vegetable supplies like tomatoes, egg plant, ladies finger, cluster beans, mango and coriander and curry leaves; and milk supply for children.
