Pesticide-Free Schools

This short documentary highlights the successful efforts to establish pesticide-free buffer zones around schools in Asia.

In Vietnam, children were taught early on the harmful effects of pesticides and to move towards alternative methods. Meanwhile, in Cambodia, farmers stopped spraying pesticides on school days. This was a result of an education campaign launched after students fell sick due to exposure to highly hazardous pesticides such as chlorpyrifos, glyphosate, lambda-cyhalothrin, and cypermethrin.

This video by PAN Asia Pacific was made possible in collaboration with its partners the Cambodian Center for Study and Development in Agriculture (CEDAC) and the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD), with assistance from the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI) and the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
