A community library titled “Vaasikkalaam Vaanga” was inaugurated in Kallaru, near Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu, India, by the Society for Rural Education Development (SRED). The initiative aims to serve underprivileged students, youth, women, and elderly people of the village.

The inauguration was presided over by Dr. Burnad Fathima, Founder of SRED, while the event was coordinated by Shanthi, who delivered the welcome address.

In a heartwarming moment, children from nearby villages—including Pudhukesavaram, Puliyamangalam, Perumoochi, and Kallaru—cut the inauguration ribbon and officially opened the library. Soon after, they were seen joyfully exploring and reading books, filling the space with curiosity and excitement.

During the occasion, fruits and guava leaf tea were served to all participants. Educators and social activists in attendance shared inspiring reflections on the importance of libraries and the transformative power of reading. They highlighted how books can open doors to knowledge and create new opportunities.
